Who governs the underground?
The moderators primarily (see list). The Admins if necessary.
What guidelines do the mods follow?
They set a good example of fairness, kindness, and goodness for the rest of the community. They remove pornography, swearing, bad language, explicit sexual references, and other inappropriate comments. They ice users that need to be removed from discussions due to rude, mean, or personal attacks.
What powers do the mods have?
Edit comments, lock topics, ice users. They can also add mods, remove mods, change policies by majority vote.
What policies can they change?
Currently, moderator transparency, community flagging. (more coming soon)
Who moderates the mods?
The moderators can moderate themselves (add or remove mods by majority vote). The community can overthrow the governing mods and hold a new election. The admins are the ultimate authority on a given underground. They can manage accounts and can view IP, email, and other account information.
How does an election work?
Everyone votes for the members of the community, and the most trusted members are automatically made the new mods.
What do Adam, Austin, and Kara do?
They tweak the system as needed to make it work better. They delete accounts that the mods cannot delete.
