has anyone ever gone to pick something up and you just ask yourself what am i doing here.and in the back of your head youre like im saving a buck for this as your walking up to the door because its just one of these houses that are definately not in the best neighborhoods. and as you go to reach to knock you see ants, spiders and even a few roaches.Mind you they were all alive n well. eeewwww. Well its been on my mind since it happened just thought id talk about it since I have to start all kinds of discussions:O)  

NMG..... that has happened before. u should buy some raid n use it like pepper spray before u get taken like m.i.b. lol

I have and luckily the person was not home when I went by for pick up. I politely emailed after I got back hom and said I am no longer intersted.

I check the posted pics from a seller to see the background. You can tell a lot about the item (clean, dirty) etc. and the house. Usually I meet in a public parking lot in daytime for safety reasons. 

lol, dang i should clean up my house before taking pics! haha. just kidding. im sure im not one of the 'dirty house' people. i actually have more people asking if the things in the background of my pics are for sale. lol I actually HATE the webcam pics that are all dark and grainy. you cant even tell what some of the items are!

Idk, I think that I have a different point of view on this subject. I have a nice house in a great part of town, and I get ants ever summer, and a certain amount of spiders is needed to keep out nats and other bugs. and roaches are more common than you'd think. I dont think people should discriminate. A lot of the people on SYS are selling because they dont have the money to buy fancy things, including bug spray or such. It really bugs me, ive been in Lawton off and on for 3 years and Ive come to notice that people get more and more snooty each and every day. Its rediculous. 

lol. i dont think bug spray is a 'fancy' thing. and seeing ants/spiders/roaches in the same place at a house in a BAD area of town is a little alerting. Id rather NOT venture in a bad area of town and try and arrange a meeting place instead. but these people dont like to meet places. 

Every house in Lawton will have a bug problem even if you spray. But if the house is trashy outside the inside may not look better. 

im not going to say go to an unsafe neighborhood and risk yourself. Im just simply saying alot of things some people (a few in particular) write are really wrong. There was a time in california I lived in a "bad" part of town, and I had many people blow me off because of it. I will admit that if someones place is "trashy" you have a right to not want what they are offering. But if a place is just cluttered, give them the benefit of the doubt.

DITTO! When there is newspaper over the windows, trash all over porch and yard is not even mowable for all the stuff in it... 

Yes, but people have different definitions of both cluttered and trashy. 

cluttered-- Items of worth being scattered around, generally inside the house but a few outside is acceptable trashy-- trash, unsafe items, broken stuff, unmowed grass and filthy conditions inside and/or out im sure thats a good general idea of what each means

well i started this and i meant dirty scary unsanitary.... and like the last person said.. i just wont buy from there ever again. I know lawton has a bad spider and ant problem.. but everyone knows the difference in what im talking about. and if you think by us talking about this it makes us stuck up people or snooty then think it but you dont know me at all to judge me that way:O) 

i wouldnt be bothered if i saw just ants, or just spiders or just one or 2 roaches. but all at once in the same little spot makes you think they dont care, and who knows if the inside is the same. i dont have to buy an item and it have bugs on it 

And I would like to add that houses in so called good neighborhoods can be trashy too. It is not only in so called bad neighborhoods. 

I didnt say it made you stuck up snooty, I said Ive noticed how a lot of lawtonians have become more snooty everyday. And I salute you for making the post. I completely agree that there are a lot of trashy places here. And I wouldnt buy from them either, but since a lot of these posts on here are simply saying that wording is key, lets make sure we word everything the way we want it to be understood. 

I am just glad I am not a Lawtonian then and can leave this place reeeeaaalllyyyy soon after being here tooooooooooo loooooooooooooong.LOL

I know, I used to Love Lawton. It was a nice small town. Especially after living in Las Vegas, and LA, and Orlando, and New York. It was a very nice change of pace. Then everything just seemed to change over this last year. And I see a lot of Alcoholics here too. And the schools - with the exception of a few - arent so great either. My sisters come home daily and tell me about things that go on. And its just crazy. I dont see how so many people are still here. Im just waiting for the transfer then we are outta here. Yay!!! 

My final out is May 29th. I am leaving come hell and high water. LOL I definetely spend to many years in this hole. 

there is actually a huge increase in people here in the last year, and it will increase exponentially over the next few years
