I understand, as I did, you paid good money for your stuff, but people you need to realize that you're not going to make back the original cost of the item. For goodness sakes, the jeans i posted for two dollars a pair run as expensive as $75 for just one pair! I'm trying to get rid of the unwanted clutter in the closets and around the house, not make 50g's a year! We are all free to price our items how we wish, but keep in mind, reasonable prices sell! Even just to get someone to look at the AD the price must be reasonable, i know I don't look at unreasonably priced items. Case and point.. CHEAP SELLS!

I totally agree. I always try to be reasonable with my prices, and almost always add OBO. I don't understand why people get so heated when someone makes a ridiculously low offer. What's the worst response a seller can give you...no? I think that a response like "I'm not ready to sell it at such a low price yet" should suffice. You never know when you might be desperate for any kind of sale, and the one person who was interested no longer wishes to buy from you because you were rude or impolite. Maybe this sounds silly, but I keep my kids in mind when selling or buying. I'm trying to set an example 24/7, and getting into a ridiculous debate with someone I don't know seems a little immature. When people attack you, just ignore it.

There are some vicious and pathetic people in the world, and it's always going to be that way. As sad as it is, people will continue to "flip dogs", sell broken items, steal, etc. My mom always told me that negative people feed off of other negative people. Some people just like to be mean and get others all worked up over nothing. Sometimes you have to just laugh and realize how sad some of these people are.

Thankfully, every person I've bought from or sold to, has been wonderful. I don't use the site as much as some others might, and I've heard some pretty awful stories. I think that outing the really awful ones (the thieves, flippers, etc) is a good thing. Hopefully, all this unnecessary drama will clear itself up (wishful thinking, probably!)

I also -TRY- to be reasonable with my prices as well. Price them as to what I would pay for the item if someone was selling it. But, I don't work and I stay at home with my 2 yr old son. We use this website to make extra money for gas, groceries, anything else we may need. So when we're broke and someone wants to pay .50 for something I have marked 2.00 I won't sell it. I'll hold on to it for a few more days and THEN if it doesn't sell for 2.00 or whatever, I'll email that person back and accept their offer.

You know what though. If Im selling something and it still sells for $100 at the store and my item is in practically NEW consition and I post it for $25 and some one offers me $5 or $10 thats rediculous. Because I would rather pay $25 for something than $100. Just because everyone wants something cheap doesnt mean that everything should be sold dirt cheap especially for things that are in close to new condition. thats my opinion of that.
I agree that some things are priced too high but if you want to sell your jeans for $2 then thats you not everyone is like that. Last month when I brought some used clothes from my son on here I paid $5 each for 2T gap pants and today I posted everything gap & ON for $1 a piece almost. When I purchased the jeans Ithought $5 was cheap compared to paying $30 each but I didnt feelc omfortable selling them for that much. So its really on how valuable you view your own items.. you know. too me childrens clothes shouldnt sell for as much as adults clothes do but not everyone see's it that way.

I also think the problem with people over pricing there items is people are attached to there stuff and its hard to let go of your expensive stuff for a penny to the $. Even if you dont need it anymore. I know when I post stuff I already know the lowest I would be willing to accept or if Im firm on the price and if I dont get what I want for it I will just put it in storage. I know thats dumb but Im not going to pay $250 for a travel system and give it away for $20 when it still looks new.
Do you guys understand what Im saying.. I dont email a person that made me an offensive offer with a rude reply I just say no Im sorry Im not ready to give that item up for that price but if it doesnt sell in the next week i will reconsider your offer.. but id o get pissed off because geese you can pay me $10 for my item that still new or you can go to walmart and pay $120.. I mean you decide you know..
Connie i wish youw ouldve posted m size because for $2 I wouldve brought them all..lol.

Im sorry I know I was beginning to really rant but Ive had plenty to say..lol..

Leslie --- 14 years ago -

Also wasnt there a posting where we can rant about sellers and buyers because man do i have something to say about that.

I hate meeting people because most of the time they dont show. I had a lady or man texting me for my NEW dishes and even said she was already at walmart and will meet me and I drove up there and texted that person to let them know I was there and they didnt even show. What kind of ignorant person does that. HELLO MORON why couldnt you just text me again to let me know you couldnt make it or have changed yoru mind. rather than let me drive all the way over there and then wait 15 minutes for your dumb A$$.

I hate that, thats why i never meet anymore. People are so thoughtless these days.

I completely understand where you are Coming from on all points Leslie. I do value my items, but still price them low because I know there is always someone out there who needs and/or wants nice stuff but can't always afford it. The main thing I'm referring to, is people who post GARBAGE, and price like it's a Louis vuitton bag, nobody wants their trash lol.@Attachment issues; I really understand that, I have basically everything from my sons birth until now ((3)) but I just simply don't post it, knowing I don't want to or am not ready to give it up :) thanks for the insight ladies!!

And if you have particular sellers or buyers who aren't showing up, post a thread so we can all steer clear of them, gas and time isn't free!

Danniella --- 14 years ago -

I think it's just people's loss if they over price something. What does it hurt us? I mean if someone else can sell the same thing cheaper then it's going to sell faster. I try to be super reasonable with stuff I want to sell. If I don't care much if it sells or not I'll post the price I'm willing to let it go for and if it doesn't go, then I keep it. No big deal.
And I totally won't meet people to sell to them. If they want it they can come to my house. I've had too many people not show up at my house on time or at all to waste my time driving somewhere I'm not going in the first place to sell it, unless I have sold to them before that is.
It would be nice if there was a way to tag people as no shows, then others would know not to expect them if it seems to be a habit.
