Yall gotta help me! I have a male chi pup who is 4m old & a yorkie female who is also 4m old. The vet will not fix either until they are 6m old. BUT, they are trying, several times a day to....well, ya know ;-). They are both our babies & stay inside. What do I do? Are they even able to... I don't know how to keep em seperate because they are both house dogs & together 27/7. Any suggestions?

If she has not gone into heat, you may be ok, but smaller dogs are not as obvious if they are in heat. The only way I knew my dog was in heat was she was constantly cleaning herself. It was way more than usual and she was a little stinky. Never once did I find any blood tho. Dogs usually are around 7 months when they go into their first heat. You could try putting a diaper on one of them or pull ups. diapers may work better as they come smaller for you smaller dogs. Good Luck!!

You know as I read your post I looked over at my yorkie & she was licking herself! Come to think of it that's all she does...Grrr. My Chi had a little mishap w/ his umhum lastnight, it was painful. I guess I could try the diaper thing. Lord knows I don't want any ChiYorkies!!

thats what i did when i had my poodle...i got some preemie diapers and cut a hole for her tail and it worked for me lol...

though they would be cute the chiyorkies.. but yea i would say go with the diapers.. I know some places actually sell doggy diapers.. I always thought it was the funniest thing putting you dont in a diaper til my puppy went into heat and almost got it from my moms jack russel.. Maltese/chi/russles nah not so much :D

lol not chi yorkies - i seen a couple posts in the florida craigslist that said chorkies, and yorkchies lol i thought it was hilarious. In all my books and studies I find most pups dont go into heat until after 6 months, so even if they are able to, you shouldnt have to worry about a pregnancy. but to be on the safe side i would do the diaper thing.

It is also not good for a puppy to have babies. It is not recommended to breed on the first heet. Nor the second I believe. They should mature and get into dog hood before breeding them too. It can stunt their growth and cause problems. Not healthy, so do what you can to keep it from happening. You also dont want to start the behavior of procreating either. It will never end lol.

You can also try a play yard. Place the female in it AT ALL TIMES until the heat is over. This is what I have to do when I dont want my breeding pair of dogs to breed. And sharon is right the dog the dog is allowed to have puppies her first heat might have serious problems or could even die .

TC there is no way your little chi is in heat at 4 months of age. I would not let them be hanging. It can damage the female and you will have bigger problems than puppies. Most Chi's do not come into heat til 7mos--1 yr. The smaller they are the longer it takes them to come into heat.

My Chi is a boy. Yorkie is the girl.
