i have to ask this, i've seen purses onhere and on CL for $100++ and i was wondering...WHY THE HELL DOES THE BRAND MATTER? a purse is a purse for crying out loud. lol i mean, damn, i seen one for $500 on here. what is the big deal about the brand? you aren't paying for quality, you're paying for the NAME and NAME ALONE. who would honestly care about paying x amount of dollars for a person that would be out of vogue in three months (give or take)?i personally a reusable shopping bag bought from hot topic and thats fine with me. i'd rather spend the money for $100 purse on a charity. but hey, thats just me lol

What gets me is that while they can spend 500$ on a purse...they whine about not having any money...well no $hit u just bought a 500$ purse u MORON...If u have 500$ y not pay a bill or buy some food...Not turn around in a few months and sell it for what u paid for it cuz u are now behind on stuff...PRIORITIES!!!

i spent a good amount of money on a Dooney bag with matching wallet. yes its just a name and i like the quality of their purses also. why did i do it? because i can! my bills are paid, my house is taken care of and my daughter wants for nothing and well i deserve it. i am a single mother and i bust my butt working 2 jobs and i like to treat myself every once in a blue moon so do i do it all the time? no way because ur right that is a whole lot of money but if i choose to "splurge" on an item whether it be a purse, shoes or whatever and if i have the means to AFTER other things are taken care of then well i will..

Victoria1 --- 15 years ago -

and if i spend a good chunk of change on an item like that, no way in hell am i going to turn around and sell it lol so yeah the ones who buy wine on a beer budget well, ur right...PRIORITIES

people dont seem to be happy with what they get and what they do get, they love to flaunt it in the faces of others who have none. "the possessions you own end up owning you"

Victoria1 --- 15 years ago -

what are u talking about ppl love to flaunt it in other peoples faces who have none? i mean unless u had a personal experience...those ppl who work hard for their possessions and are lucky enough to have nice things shouldnt have to worry about going out in public because someone else doesnt have what they have. but u are also right, there are those people who think they are above and better than others with their material possessions and "toys" and arent afraid to show it either..those people suck lol

Sounds to me as if bunny is just jealous because she can't afford and expensive purse. Victoria wasn't flaunting anything on anyone's face...at least doesn't seem so. Brand does matter because it represents quality. You can clearly see the difference in life expectancy on an original name brand bag and a counterfeit one; the name brand will last you longer because it's amde with better matterials. It's a proven fact. Anyone who want to treat themselves to something nice, and can afford to do so, shoul do it.

Everyone has something that they will spend more money on than another person. Personally I won't spend over $30 for a purse, but I also didn't start carrying them until about 2 yrs ago and not because I was too young before, I just have never been a purse person!! I bought 2 last year, one at Wal Mart for $10 and one at Wilson's Leather for $30 (it was on sale from $80) The one I got from Wal Mart is all raggedy and torn up now, but the one I got from Wilson's Leather is still in brand new condition, and I used them both pretty much the same amount of time. So things like that make me a believer that spending a little more does get you better quality sometimes.
I am a very frugal person and try not to spend a lot on anything, but if I couls think of one thing I would splurge on it would be a great pair of tennis shoes or sandals :)

So, as a person that really does (honestly) give to charities quite often, usually not alot, but I do donate small amounts to a lot of causes I understand why one would think that is more important. However, as a human being with the natural urge to splurge every once in a while I also understand paying a higher than average price for something. What seems silly and or outragous to one person isn't always silly and outragous to another.

Oh well, that's just my opinion....to each his own =)
