I plan on having a ginormous garage/yard sale on the weekend of October 15th and hope to put out some of my new lines of baked goods, treats/goodes and gift baskets. I am constantly seeing people posting for Friday yard sales. I always thought that was odd because people work, right? Well, several people have told me how awesome they do on Fridays and how often times people are left with little to sell come Saturday. Is this true? How do you all feel about Friday garage sales? You think it is worth me doing Friday AND Saturday? Now, I live out off Cache Rd between Cache and Indiahoma...do you think that will make a difference?

I had a garage sale a few weeks back; Fri & Sat and Friday was better than Sat. I think it might be because there is more traffic especially between 8-10 and 11-1 when people are going to work and lunch. I had a few people stop by on Fri and they ended up spending their lunch money! I don't know where Indiahoma is so I don't know how traffic is out there.

Friday is defiantly a big day here for some reason! Back home Saturday is the big day. I garage sale on Friday and there are alot of people with me. I agree with the 8-10 and do see alot of people in dress clothes on the way to work. Well I am out at 700 looking lol.

Precious- Do you know where the town of Cache is? We are maybe 5 miles west of that. It is a rural area so I am concerned no one would show Friday! I have an ad on SYS and will put one on Craigslist and probably in the paper plus plenty of signage. Wonder if that will bring them in? There is plenty of traffic on Cache Rd when people are heading to work, but not much on mine. :( Maybe I can convince my neighbors to do a block sale!! *lol* One of them is moving soon!!

Shelly- I keep thinking about just doing a bunch more baking Friday to have stuff available on Saturday but don't want to miss a Friday crowd. As a yard saler...how far out do you drive for a sale? We tried to do a thorough ad to entice people to come out, but is that enough? We are a good 15-20minutes from Lawton depending on where someone is coming from. We have so much furniture, clothes, decor, games, candles...you name it! Plus a bunch of my baked goods and gift baskets. Just don't know if people would want to drive from Lawton for that. Would you?

Oy. One of the few downfalls of living outside of town, I suppose.

I have switched up the way I go garaging. I go to Lawton and rural areas around here on Fridays then I go to OKC, Edmond, Guthrie and Moore on Saturdays depending on if the boys have soccer games then I will switch days. Saturday around here seems to be very full with sports and other activities like I believe the Ocktober Fest is that weekend? If the area events that slow yard saling traffic on Saturday, I think. If you have a facebook make sure you post on there. I will take your addd and post on my FB page as well since I have over 800 friends it will get to them all. I don't Twitter but some do you may want to try that too. We had a great turn out 2 weekends ago out here in Medicine Park but we all used our resources like FB, Twitter, here, Craigslist, the paper, we also put up signs at Atwoods since that is where alot of rural people shop. Also dont forget the Canoneer I believe its free to post there, alot of military read that!

Thanks for the additional information! We originally were going to do ours tomorrow and Saturday but after I saw it was the post yard sale, Walter's city wide yard sale plus Ladies Night Out AND Okotoberfest, I decided to push it back to the weekend of the 15th. Gives me more time to find things while renovating, I suppose!! *lol*

I had posted information on my bakery page, but I hadn't thought of the Canoneer! And thanks for the tip on Atwoods. I was going to hit up the convenience stores in Cache but wasn't sure where to post in Lawton. That is an awesome idea...and it gives me the chance to look around. I LOVE that store!

Guess I'll give Friday a shot. If all else fails my husband can sit outside while I putter inside and finish things up! I am sure he'll love that. haha.

You also have to take into consideration that on Saturday is the Post wide and OU vs. Texas game. Oh yeah, and the Comanche Fair is this weekend. I go on Fridays when I don't have anything to do. I like to pick my sis up on Saturday and we go yard salin then to the thrift stores...

Fridays are definately good. Plus there are a ton of "professional garage salers" mostly retired people who just spend their friday-sun garage saling. If it's in the paper they will come. Though your location may be a bit of a deterrant. Just make sure you are open when people are either going to or coming from work. I know a lot of people commute through there so you might get some of them.
