2 years ago today my very best friend was killed by a drunk driver. He was 19 and out on bail for a robbery he had committed 2 days earlier. He ran a red light, speeding and hit my friend's side of the car, crushing her little body. He didn't have a bruise on him.

She was 24 years old. Had just married her long time love that she waited for through multiple deployments and his PTSD. Many people claimed her as their best friend. That's b/c it was hard to have a better friend. She wanted to be a Momma but wanted to finish her nursing degree first. She just wanted to be able to share her love. She did and would have continued. Her smile soothed people's souls and never failed to brighten the day.

She was nothing short of amazing. And she was taken from us senselessly because someone made the decision to drink and drive. A completely preventable crime. He could have grabbed his phone but he grabbed his keys instead. 1 split second of his life and hers was gone forever.

Bumping this b/c today marks 3 years since my best friend was killed by a drunk driver. It still hurts, nothing is 'better'. I doubt it will ever be. but I will keep trying to spread her story and hope it will prevent people from drinking and driving. Please don't drink and drive.
