If anyone is interested on Friday nights 5:30-6:30 and Mondays nights from 5:00-6:00 at Honeycutt Gym there is belly dance fitness. There's no experience necessary, low-medium impact and a lot of fun! 

Is it possible to belly dance after a c-section, anybody know? Wonder if that would be a good exercise for a post c-section belly (I'm almost a year out so it's safe... and time)

I would say it is more than OK to go to this class. You never have to have your body exposed if you do not want to. Belly dancing is just the technique, not the belly per say. 

I am soooooo going to this!!!!!! Its a good exercise for ANYBODY'S body I would have to say. 

Hello Glenna, sorry for the long reply wait! Not only is it possible, it is encouraged! Bellydancing is a low to medium impact workout that, while it works all muscles, it strengthens your core without the harshness of traditional excercises.

I expose my belly during class (primarily because it makes it easier to instruct if you can see what I'm doing), as do some others and there are plenty who opt not to. Bellydance is more than flaunting your exposed belly, it's supposed to help with confidence, appreciating our womanly shapes (yes bellydance is great with all shapes, sizes and ages) and it does make you feel sexy. So to that I say, wear what makes you feel confident! This is a workout class you can wear that daring eyeshadow or lipstick, hairpiece anything that makes you feel good...pieced together with a wonderful movement makes for a very productive excercise!

Sharon is right, there is more to it than just the belly.
