We have Fidelity and pay $139 a month for very few channels, a DVR, home phone with free long distance, and internet. Okay first off-the cable has NO OnDemand which is strange to me. The phone works sometimes, sometimes it doesn't, and our internet speed changes all the time!!

When we lived in Washington state we had Comcast (Xfinity) paid $140 and got all of this plus on demand and never ever had problems. I'm worried about getting dish with all this Oklahoma wind..are there really no other cable companies here?

There has to be something else. I don't know. We are moving there in a couple of months from Washington, and I don't want to have to use a satellite.

You could always do a google search to see what cable companies there are, I guess. Since it's mostly rural areas there, the cable companies are basically monopolies.

I refuse to go back to dsl, because it's no better than dial-up.

Comcast in Lawton

We have dish network and it's not that bad, really. I've never had it go out just b/c of the wind, just when a storm approaches. We also use AT&T for internet. We have a larger package from dish so we get almost all the channels but I don't know how much we pay for it. Our internet is $50 a month. We've been happy with both. I rechecked Comcast (I checked when we first moved here) and they still don't offer service. And we don't have a home phone, just use our cell phones.

Also, to save money, if you have internet, you can use MagicJack. It's like $20 a year, and you get unlimited calls worldwide. We use it as our home phone, but still have cell phones just in case.

We have Dish Network and LOVE it! It's only gone out twice EVER! And both times it was back on within an hour or so! We get a lot more channels and GREAT customer service!
DON'T get Suddenlink! They SUCK! We are on post and can only have them or AT&T for internet...we used to have Suddenlink for Cable and internet and I would wake up to no tv and would be without it for days at a time which they would refuse to credit me for so I was paying for tv I couldn't watch. I used to have a lot of problems with the internet too but it seems to have gotten better. Seriously tho stay away from Suddenlink if you can help it!

Shutterbug-We moved here from Washington too! I googled cable and saw the comcast-then saw they didn't have it in Lawton!! They need to get some bigger companies down here because I know a ton of people would switch. Fidelity SUCKS and is way over priced.

I tried going through Verizon for TV, cable, and phone but of course they don't have service here either.

Glenna & Timekillshearts-I really may switch to Dish until a bigger company comes down to Lawton because I'm tired of paying loads of money for hardly anything. The AT&T internet is a good idea though! I didn't even know they had it.

I also read really bad reviews about Suddenlink. Won't be using them! lol

In my home we have AT&T for internet, HULU and Netflix for TV shows/Movies and Majick Jack for home phone. We Pay $35 for internet and $16 for both Hulu and Netflix so and $1.60 a month for Majic Jack so $53 a month. I think cable is obsolete nowadays and too expensive for what they offer. I was paying $65+ to Direct TV for a crapy package until I realized that all the shows I liked to watch I could watch them online for free so I canceled it. With Hulu and Netflix you can stream movies and shows with your game console and save you $100s a year.

Hope this helps. :D

We have dish through AT&T for tv and it is great. I do NOT recommend going through AT&T for internet though. We have just been here since Feb and have had to have them come out like 20 times and changed modems 4 times because out internet is constantly dropping out. Also they werent completely honest when they told my hubby the max speed we could get for our neighborhood. We found out our neighbors were getting 4 times the speed we had through the same company. They have no answer for why our internet keeps dropping all they tell us is maybe the modem died....Ok I understand maybe one, but not 4 in barely 4 months.... Yeah sorry not happy with AT&T :-)

Thank you for the advice you guys! I'm going to keep looking into more stuff. I wish Comcast was here...=[ maybe if enough people in this area request them they will open up in our area.

That stinks that they don't have Comcast. Oh well. Yeah, we are still at Lewis, but will be there soon. I kind of can't wait, since I have family there, and we all know how you can get homesick after being away for so long. It has been 8 years since I have been in Oklahoma other than when my dad was sick, and when he passed away. My kids barely know any of their family there, since we live so far away. I know that will change when we get moved, though. :D

Shutterbug, I'm glad you and your family get to come back home. We were only away for 3 years and as soon as my husband came back from Afghanistan he got orders for Fort Sill. I love it here!!

I can't wait to be back home! I've been a bit homesick, I have to admit. I'm not sure yet if we're going to live on post or off-post, but we're going to try and get on. We have 3 family members on EFMP, and are moving due to health reasons, so hopefully, that will help us get into housing on-post quickly. My daughter is autistic (high-functioning, but still has problems), and my sister said there are only 2 schools there that she knows of that have classes for children with autism. One of them is Geronimo Road, and the other is Pat Henry (which is where she teaches). Hopefully, wherever we get for a house, will be less expensive than where we are now.

I always forget to check this thing. I don't know of any schools that have Autistic schools except in OKC, and the only reason I know that is because that's where I grew up lol. But good luck if you want to get on post! I got on the waiting list for a 3 bedroom my husband is an E5 and it's a 12 month wait. Ugh!
