Like Shutterbug, I too am on my way to Fort Sill with hubby from Fort Lewis. Short of the drama on our Lewis underground, I really enjoyed being a regular poster there and hope to be one here as well.

We wont be in the area until Aug 10th, we are doing leave in route to Sill, but wanted to stop in and introduce myself. 

Hi Shelley! I'll see you on the other side! We still need to get together for coffee or something. We will be there sometime within that next week. We're leaving as early as possible, and taking some leave on the way.

How did your final out go with housing? I'll be so glad to get out of Equity housing! 

For sure on the coffee! Final went great, 51 bucks basically, for pet seal, but I had Alvin do my cleaning so I knew that was good to go, he cleaned my house when I moved from Greenwood to Beachwood 2.

Awesome! That's good. I may have to get his number from you, because I don't know if we are paying someone to clean, or doing it ourselves. I think I would rather pay someone, because with 3 kids and 2 pets, it will be hard to get it all clean on our own, I think.

I think we'll have the pet seal to pay for, and I am not sure of any other charges. We took photos of the place when we first moved in, so I have proof of the carpets being stained, and of some dents in the doors and such. This housing is definitely not the greatest here! I heard that Picerne is a lot better, but also that the wait list is almost a year. I'm hoping we can get a good rental, or get on post fairly quickly. We'll see. 

Welcome ladies, I myself moved here in March from Fort Lewis! The are is not the greatest but its not the worst. It have been extremely dry we just got rain for the first time in weeks yesterday, we didn't even have a firework show! From what I've heard from other military families that we know from our church and the ones my husband works with the housing isn't any better here on post but we are still going to see for when we are offered one. One thing you both will realize is that this underground isn't anything like the one at Lewis! Anyways I hope you both have a smooth and safe pcs and if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer to the best of my ability. 

Thanks Happy Wife and Mom. :D My sister was a little upset that they didn't have fireworks this year. It's been the first time in a LONG time that they haven't had fireworks. I grew up in the area, and heard it hasn't changed much, other than Lawton got a Buffalo Wild Wings, an Olive Garden, and a few more hotels popped up.

I was going to ask, what cable/internet company do they have there? We may also be switching our cell phones, but are thinking of doing pre-paid, because we're getting upset with T-Mobile. They were supposed to lower our monthly rates 90 days ago, and have yet to do anything about it. I'm thinking of going with Sprint or US Cellular, but not sure which is better.

We'll be looking for a good church when we move. I am still a member at one of the churches in the nearby town of Frederick, but if we find one in Lawton that we like, and feel at home at, then we will make that our home. I'm used to smaller churches, and am looking for a Southern Baptist church. 

We are closer to "home" this way, both our parents are in Arkansas and we have family in Texas too, so I'm ready to be closer for sure. I am also ready for hot weather, tired of being chilled all the time lol
