I just got a text from my hubby earlier, because he was bored sitting in his welcome newcomer's briefing, and he said he just saw the chaplain that officiated our wedding almost 9 years ago! He said she is a civi now and living in the area. That's awesome, because we are thinking of renewing our vows for our ten year reunion in about a year, and we may be able to have her do it if she's here! Plus, we can see about doing it at the same exact place we got married! I'm so freaking excited!

Also, what is so stinking cool, is that our friend and old neighbor from Germany lives just 3 doors down from us on post here! I've barely had time to rest since we got here, because we have already seen my sister twice, went to see my mom, visited with our friend at a bbq this past weekend, and have been so busy with the movers and everything else.

I found that most of our neighbors are nice. We never had neighbors actually come up and introduce themselves when we lived at Fort Lewis, and we've already had the neighbors on both sides of us come and say hi. It's so much different here, and I'm trying to get used to it (again). It's nice to be home. :D

Were you guys able to get onto post housing right away? Ours was at least a 6 month wait so we went ahead and rented a home for a year, but we really like it as much as what we would be offered on post and most likely will just stay the duration off post.

Congrats on finding the chaplain. When hubby and I got married, over 20 years ago, we went to a chaplain he served with in the reserves at his civilian church. He ran into him this last time he was in Iraq, he was like man, small world lol

Yep, we got a call the day before we got into town, saying they had an empty house for us to look at on post. It's not in the newer homes, but where we are is nice.

That's awesome! Congrats!! I am not looking forward to my electric bill with this heat, but thankfully our rent is much cheaper than our BAH and leaves us a lot left over for utilities thank goodness lol

That's good that you found a place with low rent. In order to find a house big enough for us that allows pets, we would have been spending a small fortune I think, if we were off-post.

You know, we still have to get together for lunch sometime. I saw that Mutti's is on South Sheridan, but we have to wait until payday or a little after, because we are so busy with unpacking still, and are already having to have maintenance come and do repairs on this house, because they missed a few things when working on it before we moved in. In the next couple of weeks, we are having new screen doors put on, a new fence put in (that we have to pay for, since it isn't through housing), and still have a lot to unpack. Factor in school for the kids and myself, driving to Frederick some to help my mom, and we are a busy family!
