I just moved here from texas and i was wondering how bad the hospital on post is? because the one on fort hood is really bad it takes you about 2 hours just to get seen. i dont get it.. so i was hoping it wasnt like that here on post in Fort Sill?

The other profile --- 15 years ago -

I would go OFF POST! The care is VERY POOR.... some of the doctors are ok but I WOULDN'T take the chance.....

Mollie --- 15 years ago -

where is there an off post hospital and can i do that with tricare? i dont want to get in trouble... and is their an off post ob gyn that is able to be seen?

Amber --- 15 years ago -

There is an off post place BUT you have to get a refferal from you PCM. You can also go to an off post provider BUT you have to get an authorization from tricare but there are a few places to avoid. If its not an Emergency then yeah you have to go on post but you can call tricare and get the authorization to go in town. Southwestern is on lee out west of town and Comanche is on gore by Cameron University.

If you need to see a pediatrician then is not bad; I've never had any problem getting an appointment for my son and when we go to the appointment it goes really fast and smooth. Now, if you need to see an OBGYN or any other doctor is a complete pain, starting from getting the appointment to actually being seen. I'd definitely recomend to go off post. Is a bit of a pain to get the green light from Tricare but it will save you the pain of wating weeks for the appointment and hours when you finally get it.

Mollie --- 15 years ago -

Yea im wanting to go off post. but ill have to look into it tomorrow call them and everything find out exactly what i have to do.

stephen --- 15 years ago -

its not a problem to see a pediatrician off post or to have your primary care mananger off post. Both my sons doc and mine are off post. But for an OB/GYN i have to go on post which really sucks. Im now 8 months pregnant and i dont have a choice but go to the ob on post and also deliver there although i dont want to. I asked bout if i could go off post for delivery or ob and they told me that if i do that then the medical bills will be all mine. So im kind forced to do all my pregnancy/ ob/gyn stuff there. And it really sucks not having the free choice of this!!!

stephen --- 15 years ago -

by the way this is my hubbies account but im using it so no theres not a pregnant guy *lol*

Amber --- 15 years ago -

There is one lady sgt that works in maternity and she is a real retard! My husband worked with her and there is NO way I would want her any where near me trying to deliver or touching my child!

stephen --- 15 years ago -

oh wow is it really that bad? I mean i heard its not really the greatest thing to deliver there cuz the docs and everything are not that great but now im even more scared ;-(

The other profile --- 15 years ago -

It really is that bad. I could tell you horror stories about rach and there so called medical mishaps dealing with there treatment of expectant, new, and mothers whom lost there child.

deana --- 15 years ago -

There was a Cpt in Obgyn that was awesome only problem is she had maternity leave 3 days before I delivered, lol. my 2nd child i refused any prenatal care from reynolds because to me its a joke... i delivered there and practically had my son on my own ..... they didnt want to listen when i told them he was coming so they didnt call the dr. my son was born with all the nurses on the floor. dr walked in after his head was already out..... pathetic if you ask me... :O) the after care has always been great of course ive only stayed exactly 24hrs after both. deliveries....my advice to you guys is just complain and you always end up with what you want:O) hehehe if that doesnt work have your husband call and tell them this is causing you un needed stress theyre sure to refer you:O)

Amber --- 15 years ago -

Yeah I have heard a few horror stories and I would NEVER want to deliver there! I hate RACH with a fiery passion! The ER is well known for just getting you in and telling you something just to get you out! Most of the docs there get paid by the number of patients seen. Its a JOKE! I had a severe allergic reaction to a med they gave me had to go back because literally my entire body from my head to my toes went red like a tomato. THe doc told me I had red man syndrome. The funny thing is the antibiotic that causes that I had never taken. Avoid Dr. MacNeil at the ER at RACH! He is a freaking QUACK! Oh and another thing that is retarded is if your pregnant and have to go to the er you have to go to the regular ER if you are under 25 or 26 weeks. It is absolutely DUMB!

stephen --- 15 years ago -

Well i have only been to the ER once with my lil son and they gave him an IV after 11 hours waiting, pregnant and with a 2 year old if you can imagine how stressful this is. Yea i wasnt really happy bout that and i oh man did i let them know. And with the delivery man am i scared. I almost died with my first one cuz he was a huge baby and im a 100 pound woman so yea was a lil complicated! Ripped so bad that i had to stay 2 weeks in a hospital in germany and the docs said they didnt see complications like this in a century! And the German doctors there are really educated and really great medics! And even they struggled fixing me with a infection level that was so high that if you dont have all the luck in the world you will go bye bye. Well i was lucky but i also had my fam to help me recover, here i have my hubby that needs to go to work again after 14 days. Man thats great i hope they do their job and dont think that every delivery is just "oh well". Well gotta take what i get, no other choice anyway but complain, complain and complain again! ;-(( Scared out of my mind

Pr3c!05@ --- 15 years ago -

Wow, If I end up getting pregnant while living in Lawton now I know where not to go! These stories are just ridiculous. Complaint! Fill out those surveys they send after an appointment and go to ICE to tell your experience. MEDAC really listens to what you have to say on there more than in person (IDK why) Stephen: Ouch! Sorry that this happened to you. I too gave birth to my son in Germany and even for a first time delivery, it was a really good experience. Since the moment I arrived to the hospital they took good care of me. The delivery room was like a regular bedroom one would have and they even had music playing! My midwife was the best too; she coached me and didn't leave my side since I got there. I had complications with my son because he didn't drop or turn and his heart beat dropped so they had to vaccun him out. Besided that it was a nice experience. German docs are a bit old school but they do a good job. I', definitely not going to RACH if I get pregnant...it would be dangerous for the docs there lol :p

smiley --- 15 years ago -

Wow, I think I must have been the lucky one who actually didn't have a horrible experience delivering at RACH!!! I had all my regular visits in Tx at a civilian doctor except for 2. One regular visit and the 2nd one they admitted me. I had a couple of problems delivering, none of which were the fault of the doctors though. I had to have a blood transfusion immediately after delivering and they were right on it. Due to the other problem I did need to be seen at another hospital by specialists and the doctor who delivered my son actually gave me the choice of where I wanted to go. He helped get it approved for me to go to Tx. and see the specialist instead of OKC since I would need surgery and had family in Tx. to help me. He kept me in the hospital there from Wed. afternoon, I delivered my son on Thursday morning and he released me on Sunday after making sure I would be ok to go home. I have heard many horror stories, way more than good ones though. I am very thankful mine was good and hope that you guys will get the same treatment. If however you really don't want to risk it, I agree the best way is to keep going to Tricare, it may take a bit of "complaining" and persistance, but they will usually give in and let you change.

Krystal --- 15 years ago -

My first delivery at RACH was great, the second was beyong awful!

Mollie --- 15 years ago -

OMG im scared now.. i dont know if i want to give birth there this is my first one and i dont want it to be so miserable that i dont want a kid ever again. seriously im not excited now.. im scared.. and i asked tricare they said i cant go off post but i really want to in Tx you were allowed to go off post i dont know what Ok is any diffrent im worried.. :( and i was going to go to the er when my hubs gets home because everytime i eat i get sick i cant keep anything down and i just keep getting sicker and sicker but i dont want to go on post if they make you sit out there forever in the waiting room.. grr what should i do.. im nervous :(

stephen --- 15 years ago -

Well molly i guess we are having the same problem lol. And i only have 6 more weeks to go til i have to deliver there gosh! Oh and before you go to the ER try eating salty crackers like Ritz that helped me alot when i kept throwing up. I know they say to eat cheese but really in both of my pregnancys that made it only worse. Just try it if you didnt yet maybe it helps. And try to stay away from dairy and greasy products cuz they also made me sick all the time. Jana

Mollie --- 15 years ago -

Yea i can only hold down fruit and veggies so im trying that right now. and so far its been ok. but yea i dont know about the whole military hospital and ill make that clear to tricare. i was talking to one of the nurses from there and she admitted that her herself wouldnt give birth there or even come to the ER and thats sad that their own worker has that feeling really makes me want to go there.. HAHA NOT!!! I'm not going to do it.. NOPE NOPE NOPE!!! unless i have to and as far as the lady i met today said she didnt have to cuz she refused and tricare gave up so thats what im going to do. im high risk as it is and when i called for an appointment they told me it would be like a month & a half before they can even get me in and im to be seen ever 3 weeks so yea im going offpost

Sharon --- 15 years ago -

Not everyones stories are bad, I had twins 5 weeks early adn could not have asked for better everything. Usually alot of hte people that post only complain. I had a much better experience here than I did in civilian life several years ago adn again, this was with my twins that came early.

mommyof2 --- 15 years ago -

i guess i'm another person who has received really great care at reynold's. well, i guess i've received great care from my obgyn...lol. i'm about 3 weeks from my due date and stayed with the same dr the whole time. she has been really great and answers all of my and my husband's questions. when i first found out i was pregnant, i was very worried about having another miscarriage so requested an ultrasound right away and got it. when i've gone to l&d to visit friends after they've given birth, they've never said anything bad about it. i had my son at madigan up at fort lewis, which is a training hospital and it sucked. i never had the same dr, the guy who put in my epidural was a trainee, and no one ever seemed to care that i had fainting spells throughout the entire pregnancy...so compared to that, yeah, i love rach! lol. now, as far as the primary care? no. after my daughter is born, i plan on requesting pediatricians that are off post for both of my children. my husband and i know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my son is lactose intolerant...hello, he's my child, i know him better than anyone! we've tested the theory and lets just say that when he does have dairy, its not pretty! but his pcm doesnt want to hear about it. when i take him in for the bad rashes he gets (he has to have a special cream, a&d and all that other crap doesnt work!), they won't even take a look at it to see if there might be an infection. (he's had 2 infections b/c the rash will open and bleed and feces gets into it...yuck!) and when i went to my pcm about weight issues last year before my pregnancy, she sent me to a nutritionist...i don't need to know how to eat, i can and had looked it up on the internet and knew what i needed to be eating. what i wanted was for her to test my thyroid levels or something! i wanted to discuss what else i could do other than the continuous workouts and tiny portions of food i was eating! so yes, for a primary doctor, i would go off post. its just not worth it to have a doctor who doesnt care about your concerns! but if youre looking for a great obgyn, dr singlemann is awesome (i wouldnt trade her for the world!) , and i've heard great things about dr pfeiffer too.

JOshua --- 15 years ago -

Im not in the military so i cant get on post at the reynolds place but I am on medicaid and I Got to the hospital right there on 52nd. and they are really nice even though they know Im a medicaid patient hey treet us real good there. and Ive been to southwest medical on emergency and they real good theyre too they treet us nice.

Iamcleaningouthouse --- 15 years ago -

Really encouraging people to get on medicaid. What exactly is your agenda JOSHUA? medicaid is low cost medicare for those who cant afford to pay for there extensive medical services not for free loaders. You know from being a veteran to becoming an abuser of the governement services available to the publis is a long leap. Either your just talking crap and trying to start drama or you really are as pathetic as you portray yourself. either way you need help and you need to stop jumping into adult convo. Isnt there somewhere you children meet up after school because obviously your mentality is that of a youth and maybe not even because even my nephew of 8 years of age knows what it really means to be a man and you seem to have lost the concept and idea of what a man is somewhere down the road. Mollie was asking for advice for the best place to recieve medial care not th ebest way to cheat the medicare system.

Kristi --- 15 years ago -

I have to say I agree...RACH is awful. I'm going to GYN clinic to try to get prego, I haven't heard ANYTHING from my Dr since October. Good Luck getting an off post referral I have tried 3 times with no luck.

Mollie --- 15 years ago -

Ugh i dont know what to do.. i get greats and horribles from so many ppl.. im scared because if i do go there i dont know what i will end up having.. so i guess im going to have to try it and see.. because i dont want to go through hell to go offpost ugh.. i dont even know.. im nervous and scared.. i went to the er last night there and they told me 5 hour wait that i said forget it ill pay for they bill and went off post because they basically told me to.. when i got to the hospital they instantly put me on fluids because i was so dehydrated. it was bad they kept me their forever giving me so much liquids & making sure everything was alright.. they were GREAT i wish i could deliver their but NOO.. i dont think its going to work like i would like it to.. :( oh well wish me luck
