I posted a 1/4 carat 3 stone diamond ring for sale yesterday and I had a woman purchase it today for 75.00 and she emails me 9 hrs later telling me that she had it examined and that the diamonds are moissanite (not real) and that she wants all or half her money back. My husband purchased this ring for me in 2004 from Kay Jewelers and paid 400.00 for it. The ring is still on sale to this day and has since gone up to 449.00. should I give her the money back?? it is DEFINITELY not a fake. I am 100000% positive of this.
Well, I guess this is a buyer beware kind of market but it sounds like you're not that kind of seller. I don't know if having a ring examined costs much or anything but you could ask her to meet you at a reputable jeweler's to have it examined together. Of course it may not be worth the trouble to you (or expense if that costs) and it may be easier to give her the money back. Or not, you don't have to take 'returns'... unless a court orders you to.
Real rings come with documentation stating clarity and color. Do realize that sometimes you don't pay for it to be real, but rather the name on the ring(aka Kay Jewelers).
And definitely give the lady back her money if she can prove to you she had it examined and it is indeed a fake. Otherwise it would be false advertising. And 9 hours should be an acceptable time frame to have it examined and returned if found unsatisfactory.
i would go to the jewelers with her and if she dont want the ring tell her to give the ring back and you give the money back i think she trying to pull a fast one on you
the ring was purchased from Kay in 2004. I called Kay this morning and they were able to pull up a receipt from our transaction being as it was paid for on credit through their company. When the ring was purchased I am sure "bologna" that it had its authenticity card but that was almost 7 years ago. I sold a 449.00 ring for 75.00. The ring I just sold is still on sale at Kay Jewelers today. I am honestly just really sad by this whole thing. I have been selling on bookoo off and on for over a year and have NEVER had a complaint a one on ANY of my items... this is the third piece of jewelery I have sold and everyone I have sold to has been extremely happy with their purchases.
i would ask her WHERE she got it examined at so you can go there to (possibly go together) because of the simple fact of who you bought it from and if they sold you something you didnt actually buy (meaning you paid for diamonds not the moissanite), then you have a case against the Kay's Jewelers place!!! tell her you'd be glad to refund the money but to atleast give you the benefit of the doubt as well. it could might just be that she is trying to pull a fast one on you, you never know, maybe changed her mind, found out there was a bill that needed to be paid, and needs her money back actually now instead of a ring, etc. hope not stepping on anyones toes, just my opinion.
Tish, I just emailed her back and asked her if she could show me documentation stating that the ring is a fake and where she took it. I also asked that she take it to Kay Jewelers and have it appraised by their staff. I am hoping we can resolve this issue as adults. I understand that not things come up and in all honesty had she approached me and asked if I would give her the money back because she just decided she hated it or whatever then I would have... but the fact that she approached it that I was out to screw her over and then ask for 1/2 or all the money back really hurts. I think maybe I let things get to me too much on here.
just wanted to tell you that she put your name out there on sill bookoo as someone that sells stuff that is a lie and to watch out for you i think that is truely wrong just wanted you to know
okay, my last two emails have been ignored. The first one I asked that she show me the documentation stating it was fake and the second asking to go to Kay Jewelers for an appraisal, instead she posts incorrect info about me and the items I have posted. Apparently this is not going to be solved as mature adults on her part so I will say here that I am standing my ground, I will not be returning the money and I will no longer deal with her. What I asked for was not unreasonable. I am sorry if anyone feels that I am fraudulent or giving false info. I can only give you my word that I am not a liar or out to screw anyone over.
