My family and I are relocating to Sill in April and I was looking for some information about it. I was wondering what the good areas to live in are and possibly good rental companies. Also are any of you familiar with Lawton Christian Preschool? Tia

The areas in this town are kind of crazy, one street will be perfectly nice and calm and the next street over will be a problem area...but far east lawton is good and far west lawton is good...there are good places in between as well, but they are good mixed in with not so good, these sides of town are pretty reliable for safety for the most part... i have heard of good things about lawton christian another one is TCA tri state christian... hope this is some help... let me know if you have any other questions :) 

Cache and Elgin are outside of Lawton, about 15 minutes each way(west and east). I live on post, but my kids goto school in Elgin, I pulled them from the LPS system last year. Has made the wolrd of difference. I dont mind Lawton, there are good and bad with anywhere you go. It is what you mae of it! You will also hear good and bad with all the rental companies in the area. You really have to research them and talk with them and let your gut tell you. Depending on who you talk to one may be golden to one person and the devil to the other. That does not make them good or bad, just differences in peoples opinions. 

I agree with what was said above. the only things else is I have been told that sundance reality is horrible, I don't personally have experience with them but I have heard horror stories, but the housing office says that if you have any problems out of any of the rental companies to bring it to their attention and they will see what can be done, I live onpost now and its ok. I was warned to stay away from Sundance Rentals. You can google and see what people have to say about them. Not a good reputable rental agency. Good luck. 

I had a bad experience with sundance. If you are interested to know the story type sundance rentals lawton ok in the google bar and read the reviews. Mine is on there. 

Sundance propertys are trash!!! My hubby and I went to look at a few when we first came here and they were all just awful! Not to mention they smelled soooooo bad!!! We rent from a private party now and I wouldnt have it anyother way!! 

If you have the opportunity, come down and drive around. Rentals are everywhere in this town. And like the other person said, the areas in this town are crazy. Their are nice homes to rent, but you have to look for them. Their is a website for military familys only that list all houses available to rent. I can't think of the name of it right now, just call housing and they should have it. I used it and then cross-referenced the school's in the area with the home location. Good Luck. 

ahrn.com and militarybyowner.com may be what Angel is thinking of. We've used both and we rent privately. And it's very true that the neighborhoods are very hit or miss around here. 

Thanks for all the info! I am afraid I will not have the opportunity to drive around there since I am currently in Hawaii. I will just be browsing online for the most part. I wouldn't mind renting from a private party though. 

Have you tried freedom they are good to rent from? Its an online rental.The give you free stuff when you order.
