That seems pretty shady to me. How can you make money on a coupon that has no value. They say like 1/100th of a cent. Who is gonna buy a coupon?? I get that they are selling for pennies to the dollar, but still. Am I just crazy!!

tish --- 13 years ago -

i know i saw that too.....i have mixed feelings on it, i don't know so don't put this in stone, but i heard your not supposed to sell coupons, but if your like me and love couponing, and just don't have time then i guess you might be compelled to do something like that and buy some, but i know where your coming from...

MarineMom --- 13 years ago -

I saw if you can get it for free then you shouldnt sell if like that. Cause that to me is just wrong

Shelley S --- 13 years ago -

I agree, if it's free, then why sell them. I do use coupons, not in the extreme way, but I just give my coupons to others who may need them or there is a way to give them to those overseas who can use expired ones for a little while after the exp. date like in Germany, Japan, etc.

tish --- 13 years ago -

People probably sell them because of the "time" it takes to clip all those darn coupons, but yes, the feeling is mutual and omg, i so need to move to Germany, Japan! I always have exp'd coupons! grrr

Shelley S --- 13 years ago -

lol Tish me too, I will save them for another time when I dont use them the day I shop, then when I need that item, darn thing expired already

MaryJane --- 13 years ago -

Ladies,

There are coupons clipping services you can order coupons from like the ones on eBay and sites like couponclippers.com. It's indeed illegal to sell coupons as it says so on them, so people just charge a fee for their time as they're rendering a service instead of selling a product. I’ve been couponing for years and I order coupons often because it’s really a pain to clip coupons on 20 inserts like I did just last week! I see nothing shady about ordering coupons from someone. The only thing I don’t agree with is that sometimes they charge more for higher value coupons when they take the same time to clip and the other ones. I wish there were more active couponing groups around here so I could swap with other people, it get’s expensive to be sending so many coupons overseas.

BTW: In case you might be interested, there will be two couponing/financial readiness classes on post this month. Just call ACS to sign up and for details!

I have an email sent in to a site that has 2 people who work with her that you can send them stateside as long as they aren't more than 30 days expired and they send them all at once overseas to their bases they adopted.

I would love to see a way to exchange coupons I dont use though. I have quite a few that I wont use.

MaryJane --- 13 years ago -

Shelley S,

I send mine to a service like that but I still have to pay for the postage. I don't mind doing it but I'd rather give them to someone local that I know will use them. People overseas are limited to the Commissary and the PX so they can't use all coupons. I know because I did it for 5 years, so before I even send the coupons, I have to take out the ones for items I know the Commissary doesn't carry.

There were a couple of couponing groups around but I guess they lost their mojo or something. Now I just leave the coupons at the stores.

I do that a lot too, especially if I see it's going to expire in the next week or so, I leave it right under the product.

MaryJane --- 13 years ago -

Me too! People always look at me weird when they see me put them on the shelves like that :P Say, would you like to trade coupons? I have a whole bunch of coupons I know I'm not going to use, at least not all of them, and right now I'm going crazy looking for general mills cereal coupons!

tish --- 13 years ago -

that is cool with me, what would you say about listing the coupons on here, like for example... i have these that i know i will not be using... let me know if any takers, i can meet or mail to you

$2.00 off any 2 old spice red zone odor blocker or dry skin defense body wash exp is 6/30/2013

buy 1 gillette deodorant, get 1 gillette body wash free (up to $4.29 max) and exp is 6/30/13

save $1.00 on any 2 packages of Kellogg's rice krispies, cocoa krispies, crispix, and/or kellog's corn flakes (10 oz or larger) exp 3/31/12

(and sorry MJ for not having general mills, and to think i just tossed some the other day!)

;)

If you are able to shop on post I heard that you can use expired coupons up to 6 mnths. You might want to check it out before you try to use them thou.

tish --- 13 years ago -

i can come on post, but sometimes its more of a hassle for me than what its worth. i am civilian. i know some of you have heard this one before, but i went on post one day (with a car) to buy off of a boo kooer and low and behold they flagged me over to the side. well of all days, this was the day the trunk would not open, so i wasn't able to get on. also i've forgotten my id twice (have bad habit of forgetting it) and as you'd already know, i couldn't get on either. so, needless to say, i don't go on much. if i find an item i like i usually ask if on post. if it is an absolute must-have i will take time to go, if not then i just let them no thanks. i used to live over an hour from lawton and it would irritate me that after telling people that they wouldnt even meet me at the gates, i'd have to come to their home.....but everyone has their reasoning right? now that i live here in the area i can be that way to! lol, just kidding ya'll

@Tish;

I won't list my coupons on here; I've read and heard about all the drama of selling/buying on the site. That's why I wish there was an active couponing group so I can trade my coupons instead. I've met a lot of people that were into it for a lil bit but then quit, oh well. I'll keep sending them overseas. But if you want to trade with me, I'll be glad to. I can meet you at the mall or any place where we can sit. Just let me know.

MarineMom;

You can't use expired coupons as the Commissaries in the States, that is only allowed at the commissaries overseas because they don't get inserts like we do here. If you try to use expired coupons at the Commissary that'll be fraud and they might be banned from shopping there. It's happened before and we just had a class on coupon usage at the commissary not long ago. If you want to know more about coupon usage at the commissary you can read the policy on the DECA website or thier FB page.

Shelley S --- 13 years ago -

Oh yeah trust me, I accidentally had an expired coupon in my stack once and sure enough they gave it back and said it was expired. But yep those overseas can use them for up to 6 months past expiration.

tish --- 13 years ago -

MJ, yeah there has been lots of drama, but boy o boy seems like someone is always complaining about something. I think i have something to say when I come on the site each time, but I don't go and post. (just talk to the computer, lol) So, I know where you'r coming from. Speaking of complaining, I want to complain, on Wal-Mart. You know those competitor ads. Well I've been doing that for about 12 years now.... I actually think they made that commercial in honor of me, lol. Anywho. I've always brought the ad in EVERYTIME. Well, here recently, they supposedly dont' require the ad, you can just tell them, so one day I had the ads for all my comps except one... it was some knorr fideos (i call them mexican pasta, we call it "sopa") they had them priced for 48 cents, and my comp ad was 3 for 99, but low and behold i forgot it, and the cashier wouldn't do it for me!!! Ok most of you know where I am coming from, that's like walking into a bingo hall and falsely shouting out bingo! YOU JUST DON'T MESS WITH A BINGO PERSON.....AND YOU DON'T MESS WITH A TIGHT WAD COUPONING, COMP AD-ING FREAK LIKE ME!!! i told her nevermind to put it back, and she made the comment just over 15 cents? I thought, "no she just didn't". I told her "YES OVER 15 CENTS I AM NOT GOING TO GET IT, SORRY" but after that she just had that sorry attitude, throwing my groceries, etc. I should've complain with the mgr, but didn't want to get her in trouble. So that was my recent shopping experience at wally mart, grrrrr. I wish other stores offered comp adding.... Homeland or Country Mart for example. That would rock, double couponing AND comp ads, can you imagine that?

Shelley S --- 13 years ago -

That would be awesome if they did! Where is Homeland? I live close to the Country Mart on 67th but never heard of Homeland

MaryJane --- 13 years ago -

@ Tish;

I'm only on bookoo when I'm really looking for something that I absolutely don't want to pay retail for! I have never tried to Ad-Match at Wal-Mart. Actually the only time I shop there, is when I got high value coupons that will give me a nice overage so I can get free produce :P The cashiers are too "challenged" to say the least and I really don't like getting into arguments with them. I have had some mishaps but I just put the item back and ignore the look or the comments. I usually go to the one on 67th, younger and friendlier cashiers.

@Shelley;

Country Mart and Homeland are the same company. I have actually shopped at the Homelands in OKC and the CM card works there.

I don't think CM will ever do ad match. A year ago, coupon shopping was so much better, now they're sooooo darn picky about it and only doubling one coupon is a pain! I wish it went back to the way it was before every body went crazy and tried to be an extreme couponer. All they accomplished was to mess things up for the rest of us :(
