NO ONE pays $50 for a cake for there kids 1st birthday! MY GOD! I am feeding 75 people not 275. Walmart can give me a bigger cake for $50. You are out of your damn mind. You got an enflated self of sense. Look at this people. Seriously. $50? Who pays that much for a damn cake. Probably gonna be dry as hell too! I'll stick with my walmart cake thanks. undefined undefined

Samantha --- 7 years ago -

Omg, if you are complaining about getting a cake like that for $50, then you are crazy! That's a damn good deal and you are more than welcome to keep on buying your simple walmart cakes that are GUARANTEED to be dry.

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Sh!t, take your cheap @ss to Wal-Mart then! I would not spent the time and effort a cake like that requires for $50 miserable dollars! What else did you serve at the party, kool aid?

Samantha --- 7 years ago -

Kool aid? That would cost money! I hope she at least buys ice so the kids will have cold water! Lol

Reeses --- 7 years ago -

What the hell ever. I could boy boxed cake mix n $hit and spent a lot less than $50 to make a cake like this! Maybe you all gots money to throw around. Thats nuts. My kid is going to be 1 not 21. And im doing homemade lamonaid so whatever. Im not cheap.

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

You see, that's all you had to say; you're cheap and you don't want to spend the money on the cake. Also, lemonade is no different from kool aid; a tube of chrystal light costs $3 and you can make 8 gallons with it...well, there is a "cost effective" solution for you.

Samantha --- 7 years ago -

Why did you expect to get a cake for 75 for less that 50??!? A 1/2 sheet cake at SAMs is about 30, you'd need 2 so that'd be $60! Get a life instead of trying to ruin someones rep based on their great prices just because your cheap. And go ahead and find all the materials for that cake including diff size pans, mix, buttercream ingredients, colorings, bags, tips, spatulas, cooling racks, cardboard cake circles, fondant, dowels...and Im sure you'll see it will cost you MORE than $50 to do on your own. Assuming she only needs to buy the items aside from the pans, it will still cost nearly if not more than half of the asking price. And say it takes 8 hours total to make---you really expect anyone to work for $3 an hour?!?!? I think not!

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Ok hun, let me break it down for you, for a cake like this you need at the very least 8 pounds of cake, about the same amount of boxes( since you want to use that crappy cake mix) @ $1.25 each = $12 You will also need about 4 pounds of fondant, 4 boxes @ $6.00 ea. =$24, at least 2 pounds of buttercream icing, of if you want to use 3 of those cans, so 3 cans @ $1.80 ea. =$5.40 so far we got $41.40 plus add all the other little details and miscellaneous and you'll spend well over $50 just in ingredients. As you can see, doing a cake like the one in the pic would cost you a great deal. If you don't know about cake making and decorating then yes, you should stick to wal-mart cakes. Hey Brooke, Would it take you the same amount of indredients to do this cake? I use different methods to do mine.

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Samantha --- 7 years ago -

Maryjane, that's a good breakdown for a cheap way to do this cake. And a good example for the whiney buyer! After figuring in custom buttercream, that cost goes up MUCH more. Also I custom make my fondant. Add in the cost for colorings, dowels to stack, cardboard circles and on and on. You can figure it costs more than the $50. But even if she had all the ingredients on hand, the labor for 8 hours would only be $6!! Noone works for $6/hr, since it's BELOW minimum wage! Simply said, reeses needs to get a life and go to walmart for her magical 'under $50 cake' that will feed 75!!

Amber --- 7 years ago -

HA! OMG SERIOUSLY! There would be no way if i made cakes I would do that for less than 100! First off take your stupid butt to johnsons bakery on ft sill blvd and see how much they would charge. They where going to charge me like 50 bucks plus the cost of icing to do a yellow ribbon cake and they wanted to use my own pan! HA I think NOT! Stop complaining about getting this cake for 50. I am cheap but dang if i got this cake for 50 i would be telling her thank you and kissing her feet. Screw you and your cheap self. My husband is military and was deployed but just because he was didnt mean i wanted everything for nothing and felt like everyone owed me something! Get off your high horse and make it yourself.

Hyperbole --- 7 years ago -

Reeses- Wow. Just wow. You came to me with this story about how your husband was deployed and how you all have been struggling to get buy as he is not home to work a secondary job. After sharing other personal information with me you informed me you could not spend more than $60 on a cake as it was just not feasible. Because of this I agreed to do this cake for $50...mainly just the ingredient cost. Aside from those facts, no further response is necessary to you!

Hyperbole --- 7 years ago -

Samantha- Thank you for coming to my defense. I am absolutely speechless! I cannot believe that she has stooped this low. Goes to show that when you give/donate to someone, unless it is free, it is never good enough. Amazing!

Samantha --- 7 years ago -

No problem Brooke. It's pretty disappointing that people feel the need to needlessly slander someone, on no part of the victim at all!

Hyperbole --- 7 years ago -

Mary Jane- Thanks for the break down. I actually do all of my cakes, butter creams, and fondants from scratch. She wanted a triple chocolate cake, which meant a chocolate cake recipe, home made pudding, plus chocolate chunks. Then it is the homemade buttercream. Then the home made fondant with home made marshmallows. That adds up! And as Samantha says, the dowels, the boards, etc. That is waving my deposits and lord knows if she would have returned my stuff. And then there is the time spent on a cake like this. *lol* ANd I think I am ranting. Sorry about that!

kortne --- 7 years ago -

Im a bit confused??? My son just turned one and I decided on a small cake seeing i had made several other food items for our guests to eat. such as we made "hay bales" rice crispy treats, cupcakes, cookies, way too much food but anyhow back to what i was confused about. Our cake was suppose to be for 25 to 30 people and i paid 35 for it. The family loved it and i was satisfied with the over all theme. I will admit we did not go with the fanciest cake seeing his theme was John Deere but give me a break. 50 bucks for that cake you have got to be kidding me!!! It is worth a whole lot more than that and if for some reason you wanted to feed 75 people for only 50 bucks you have not done your research on cakes very well. Im not a negative person so im not going to down you for being shallow but my husband is too deployed and i have had to do all the planning and budgeting on my own as well and sometimes times do get tough but i really dont like when people pull the my husbands deployed card. Yes i may say my baby is asleep can i come pick up my purchase in the morning but you know i will be there in the morning usually 10 min early because that person was nice enough to understand my situation. I will enclose a few pics of his cake and yes i have taken his name out. Just know to whomever made this cake you did an awesome job and the person that started this post you should be greatful for the kindness of people this may be how she feeds her children and pays her bills.

kortne --- 7 years ago -

for some reason the pics will not upload to the site but if you would like to see them feel free to email me and once again im not a negative person and im not trying to bash anyone just wanting people to appreciate what they have.

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Brooke, Oh wow...that would be so much more if that is what she wanted. I was just using the store prices since she said she could buy the ingredients at the store with less than $50. Her ignorance and cheap self just bugged me so I had to say something :P

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Funny thing, I just showed the pic of the cake to my hubby and asked him how much he thought a cake like that would cost at a bakery and he said $400! Wow, and she wanted it for $50 ROFLMAO big time!

Victoria1 --- 7 years ago -

i'm sorry i had to keep scrolling up to double check that she was complaining about THAT cake...wtf woman! are u out of ur rabid a$$ mind?!? That is an absoulte beautiful cake and $50 was all u were charged? *dies* i have nothing to say except beggers can't be choosers. Sounds like she did u a favor with the price AND quality. *shakes head*

Curt --- 7 years ago -

Reeses, Are you serious, wow, wait let me ask again your serious about this. Your first mistake was complaining but then you put a picture of it up. Must be a hillbilly. So i take it you expect hand outs. My wife showed me this because I juust happen to be a cook in the army, so yes i can bake as well. for sophisticated sweets to tell you 50, you just robbed them. Run and run fast, but like a hillbilly you say its to much, and post a picture of it on sill yard sales. Hey crazy idea, just gonna throw it out there Get a Freakn Job so then maybe you can afford a steal. then you compared the cake to wal-mart. Wal mart does air brushing that the cake is dry. A cake like this I would charge arouund 200. 50 dollars I laugh because someone tries to do something nice and people like you want to complain about it.

smiley --- 7 years ago -

REESES.........While I am all for venting if you are unsatisfied with something there is a way to go about it. Starting your post off the way you did pretty much discredits anything you have to say. It is a cake, a very decently priced cake. There is ranting about someone/something and slandering someone/something. You little peanut butter cup are slandering. I think it would be nice to re-word your rant. Trust me, I know the right and wrong way to rant on here. Try to be less personal with your words ok, it makes you sound mad at her personally, not professionally, and the last time someone got so personal the thread did disappear from underground because it was useless and not at all written from a professional buyers view point. This one can be removed too. Before you jump to conclussions I don't know Brooke or Martin, I just know there seems to be a few childish people out to hurt their businesses and since they seem personal they have no need being on here, hence the removal. If you are not doing it the way it seems, then maybe look into cake prices, and in fairness comparing a ckae like that to one at Wal Mart doesn't make sense. Also keep in mind that Wal Mart may end up NOT making your cake and leaving you totally screwed. Trust me, it happened to me. So in all honesty, the cake which comes with a great price tag is also one you are 99.9% sure to receive. Also, for you to use the fact your husband is deployed as a way of getting the cake for less is just down right wrong and sad. If you are that strapped there are people you can contact in the Army to help you, they even have little classes on budgeting. =) No shame in struggling, we have all been there, but to be so rude and ungrateful because of it isn't right. I know emotions also run a little whacky while husbands are deployed, and stress sometimes gets to you, but bashing someone without having done any real research on what the cost of cakes like that run is not fair. Just look into it, you will see it is indeed a very good price.

Amy --- 7 years ago -

I just want to know what "lamonaide" is haha.

Hyperbole --- 7 years ago -

I feel that I should justify this cost. I wouldn't typically create this type of cake at such a low cost; Miss Lorinda here weaved me quite the story and obviously I was the sucker. While I participate in organizations that donate cakes to underprivilaged children, I didn't feel that she exactly fell under that category...I mean, hello! She can afford a party! I did feel empathy for her situation and compromised. Free labor, delivery, and partial cost of ingredients. Obviously my kindness was mistaken for weakness...lesson learned. A nice reminder as to why I ceased prior advertisement on this site!

Reeses --- 7 years ago -

Brooke why you be putting my bizness al up in here? That aint no ones business what I can cant afford. That just goes to show you aint professional. ANd fu@k all yall. You aint know me or what up with all this. This is none of yalls converns.

mommyof2 --- 7 years ago -

haha, reeses, you made it our concern when you started bashing brooke, who happens to be one of the nicest sweetest ladies. i would happily pay twice the amount for that cake! you need to stop the mean, nasty comments about brooke and her business!

MaryJane --- 7 years ago -

Yo sistah, y don't u stick ur mid finger out sit on it an spin a few times. U were da dumbass dat started all dis sh!t so if u can't take da heat den get da fu(k outta here. No1 cares bout ur cheap @ss, is juz wun ur dumbass start flappin ur gums 2 talk bad bout a nice person we gon get all up in dat so shut da hell up, get ur stupid as$ a job so u can give ur baby a nice b-day party wit a real cake not dat dry sh!t from wallie

smiley --- 7 years ago -

She has to be able to defend herself against people slandering her. Usually a defense requires an explanation of what happened so that everyone can get both sides of the story and determine what is fair and what isn't. You can't possibly expect to come on here, slander her business and slander her personally, then expect her just to let it be. That isn't right at all, and you know that. Also when you come on here and post so that everyone can see what you have to say and what you think you automatically make it everyone's business. If you didn't want people responding you could have sent her a message. Once you put it out here, it really becomes anyone who reads this threads business. You put your post saying you were not satisfied and other people posted about their satisfactions and also threw in a few facts about cake costs.

Iamcleaningouthouse --- 7 years ago -

WOW! Brooke I wouldve loved that cake for my daughters birthday. It os beautiful. i wouldvce easily paid that $50 and gave you a tip. it is so beautiful but yet simple in its own way. Ithink its perfect for a 1st birthday. and Im not sure what Reese is talking about but a 1st birthday is rather huge and special and spending $50 on a cake for the 1st birthday is reasonable after all its a moment to remember. WOW Reese you are the cheapest parent. You couldnt afford $50 for a cake while your hubby is deployed make that extra hazardous duty pay and the family sep. What kind of cake are you going to get next year when your hubby isnt deployed a $25 cake. I mean seriously have you even really looked at the cake its beautiful. I would probably stare at it all night before I dared to even cut a piece from it. I know times do get hard but hell you knew for a whole year there first birthday was coming up as you do with every b-day try saving the money ahead of time so you dont have to be so cheap. Brooke its beautiful can you message me your number privately please my b-day is the 19 of may and I want you to do my cake. thanks hun
